Collection: Buy Thangka Under $100 Online
Looking to buy a thangka online on a smaller budget? This collection brings together small hand painted thangkas, mandalas and thangka lockets, all under $100. Each piece comes from our studio in Boudha, Kathmandu, where our artists paint in the Tibetan tradition. Our thangkas are blessed by a monk.
Start with a mandala thangka for meditation, such as a Kalachakra mandala or a lotus mandala, or choose a small deity thangka of Green Tara, White Tara, Chenrezig, Manjushri or Jambhala. To carry your practice with you, our hand painted thangka lockets (ghau pendants) are made to be worn. Prints are marked “Print” in the product name. We ship worldwide, and custom thangkas are available for larger budgets.

Choosing a Thangka Under $100
A thangka under $100 is a good way to start a collection, add a sacred image to a small altar or give a meaningful gift. Prices stay low here because most pieces are small, from about 8 x 10 inches up to 19 x 19 inches, and because thangka lockets and prints are included. The notes below help you choose.
Start with what you want it for
- Meditation: a mandala thangka gives the eye one point to rest on.
- Devotion: a deity thangka connects you to a quality you want to grow, such as compassion or wisdom.
- Carrying with you: a thangka locket (ghau pendant) is made to be worn or kept close.
- Gifts: a small thangka suits a housewarming, a birthday or a meditation teacher.
Mandala thangkas
A mandala is a sacred diagram used as a focus for meditation. Our small mandala thangkas include:
- Kalachakra mandala: the “Wheel of Time” mandala. Read about its meaning in our guide to the Kalachakra mandala.
- Lotus mandala: the lotus stands for purity and awakening. See lotus mandala symbolism.
- Cosmic and mantra mandalas: a map of the universe and a mandala built from sacred syllables. Learn more in the cosmic mandala.
Deity thangkas
- Green Tara: swift compassion and protection.
- White Tara: long life, healing and calm.
- Chenrezig: the Buddha of compassion.
- Manjushri: wisdom; his sword cuts through ignorance.
- Jambhala: abundance and generosity.
- Guru Rinpoche, Vajrapani, Milarepa and Medicine Buddha: the teacher who brought Buddhism to Tibet, strength and protection, the poet-yogi, and healing.
- Four Harmonious Friends: a well-loved Tibetan story of an elephant, monkey, rabbit and bird working together.
Where to place your thangka
Hang it in a clean, respectful place at or above eye level, such as an altar, meditation corner or quiet wall, and away from the floor, kitchen and bathroom. Keep it out of direct sunlight and damp. Our Buddhist altar setup guide explains how to arrange it.
Before you buy
- Smaller thangkas have less room for fine detail than large ones, so look closely at the photos.
- Colors can look slightly different on screen, so read the size and description on each product page.
- Not sure which one suits you? Read how to choose the right Buddhist thangka.
- You can buy any of these thangkas online with worldwide shipping.
