Green Tara Mantra Mandala | Hand-Painted Mandala Thangka from Nepal

Bring Green Tara's swift compassion home with this beautifully hand-painted Green Tara mantra mandala. In this mandala painting, Green Tara sits at the heart, with the mantra written in rings of Tibetan script around her.

It is an image to look at and a prayer to recite, in one piece. Hang it where you pray, study, or begin your day, and let it keep that intention in front of you. Every thangka is hand-painted; no two are identical. If this one speaks to you, add it to your cart or message us with your questions.

See What Makes This Mandala Painting Special

• A calm living presence. Green Tara's jade-green figure has a serene, slightly smiling face, a golden crown set with white flowers and a gold halo.
• A mudra (posture) that says "ready to help." One leg is folded and the other extended, resting on a small lotus. Tradition reads this as readiness to rise and act. Her right hand rests low in a giving gesture.
• Color that rewards a closer look. A rose-pink sash crosses her body, and her garments carry tiny flowers in purple, orange, and blue.
• A garden around her. White and cream peonies grow on the left, a flowering stem rises beside her shoulder, and a dense scale-like pattern fills the right.
• A golden arch of scrollwork with pearl-like jewels, fine radiating lines, and pale clouds frames her.
• Four rings of mantra. The script is written in white, red, blue, and black, so the circle feels woven rather than printed.

Green Tara is traditionally called on for protection from the eight great fears, which many teachers link to inner struggles. To see the roots behind them, read about the root causes of suffering in Budhdism.
