Guru Rinpoche β Padmasambhava, the Lotus-Born β is one of the most revered figures in Tibetan Buddhism. Known as the second Buddha, he is credited with establishing the Vajrayana teachings in Tibet and subduing the forces that obstructed the Dharma. This thangka captures him in his iconic form: seated in royal ease, holding the vajra scepter and skull cup, with his khatvanga staff resting against his shoulder.
His gaze is direct and compassionate, said to pierce through the veils of confusion and awaken the innate wisdom of all who behold him. Placing this thangka in your home or practice space invites his blessings of protection, clarity, and swift progress on the spiritual path. It is a foundational image for practitioners of the Nyingma school and all who walk the Vajrayana path.
