Vajrayogini Thangka in Golden Tones | Hand-Painted in Nepal

Where other Vajrayogini paintings are cool or pale, this golden Vajrayogini thangka glows. A deep golden ground surrounds the dakini, whose dancing stance and upward gaze break the stillness of thangka. Painted in Nepal, it is a strong centerpiece for a shrine, meditation room, or collection of Himalayan art.

Details to notice

• Skull cup and curved knife: The skull cup is raised in one hand, the vajra-handled curved knife lowered in the other. Both are traditional attributes, commonly explained as transcending attachment and cutting through ego-clinging.
• Khatvanga staff: The blue staff across her shoulders is traditionally linked to her consort, Chakrasamvara.
• Skull garland and bone ornaments: Reminders of impermanence in the tradition.
• Two figures beneath her feet: Symbols of ignorance and ego overcome.
• Bottom edge: Offering objects
