This hand-painted Vajrayogini thangka brings the red dakini to life in the precise, luminous language of Himalayan Buddhist painting. Vajrayogini strides across a lotus and sun-disc seat, her gaze lifted toward the skull cup in her raised hand, framed by a blazing arch of golden-orange flame and a halo of fine, multicolored rays.

Painted by artists in Boudha, Kathmandu, it is made for practitioners, collectors, and anyone drawn to the intensity of thangka art.

Who is Vajrayogini?

Vajrayogini is a female meditational deity (yidam) of Highest Yoga Tantra, closely associated with the Chakrasamvara tradition and practiced in several Tibetan lineages, including the Sakya and Kagyu. Her red form is traditionally understood as passion and desire transformed into wisdom, and her fierce appearance as compassion that cuts through ignorance. Interpretations differ between lineages and teachers, so please read this as an introduction, not a teaching.
